The Departures and coffee tales

I watched The Departures yesterday. Beautiful scenes, calm and enlightening. It portrays a casketing person's job - clean the bodies, dress, make-up, the rituals - with lots of spiritual and emotional sides of parting and sending the loved ones into their next life.

When I was younger, thought of death often came with self awareness, of questions like who I really am, what I will be doing when I die, will I just gonna lay there to eternity, and that such.. and to be honest, to me, a very scary thought. Gradually the reality of death started to sink in, and I accepted the fact that I, like everyone else, will die.

However this movie, among some others, gives a very nice and light feeling towards moving forwards into that certain path. Life certainly is a gift not to be wasted.

Today I ventured out into the dark cold night, wearing three layers of clothing, just to buy a Chatime brown rice drink. While waiting for my drink to be made, I flipped through some Chinese magazine and saw a seem-to-be-awesome-coffee shop. It calls Ampersand Cafe Bookstore, in Paddington. Beautiful interior. The coffee is said to be good too. It will be very very nice if they let me read their books while drinking coffee. So I am planning a weekend visit to the cafe soon. This is how it looks inside.
